Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Salymbekov University ("we", "us", or "our") handles information through the SIS Student App (the "App"). The App is provided to enrolled students to access and manage institution-related information and services.
Information we handle
Depending on the services made available by your institution, the App may process:
- account and profile information, such as your name, institutional email address, phone number, address, and student identifier;
- academic information, such as enrolments, course schedules, attendance, grades, assignments, and documents;
- financial information shown in the App, such as tuition invoices, payment proofs, payments, or balances;
- documents and images that you choose to upload, including assignment submissions and document requests;
- precise location only when you choose to use location-verified attendance; and
- device notification tokens and notification preferences so that we can send important institutional alerts; and
- other institutional record information needed to provide student services, which may include government-issued identifiers where authorized by the institution.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, provide student services, show your academic and financial records, process your submissions and document requests, verify attendance when that feature is used, deliver notifications, maintain security, and respond to support requests.
We do not use information collected through the App to track you across apps or websites for advertising.
Permissions
The App asks for camera access only when you choose to scan an attendance QR code or take a photo for upload. It asks for photo-library access only when you choose an image to upload. It asks for location access only when you use location-verified attendance. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings; some related features may then be unavailable.
Service providers and sharing
Information is available to authorized institution staff and to service providers that operate the SIS platform or deliver notifications on our behalf, including Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications. We do not use the App for advertising or sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by applicable law or to protect the security of the SIS platform and its users.
Retention and security
We retain information according to institutional record-retention requirements and applicable law. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the information we handle. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children and students
The App is intended for students authorized by their institution. If you have questions about a student’s information, contact the institution using the details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or our practices change. We will publish the current version on this page and update the effective date.
